Who is a good candidate?
Beyond the position specific skills outlined below, we are looking for IT operations-focused engineers who want to contribute to the Digital Rebar platform. Our platform engineers turn routine DevOps/SRE processes into a catalog of reusable, zero touch workflows that can be adopted by our global customer base. We are looking for people with a passion for eliminating the toil of systems administration.

As a Sales Engineer you will be accountable for two key and critically important areas of our sales process:
- Obtaining “technical wins” on sales opportunities by working with our customers’ and prospects’ technical champions to ensure they understand how RackN can help them achieve their objectives. Most of the time this will be supporting self-trials. This includes:
- Fielding technical questions on RackN product by customers
- Preparing and providing Demo of RackN product to customers
- Developing new Demo scenarios to highlight features based on customer requests
- Building basic automation scripts or expanding on existing scripts
- Being the “face of the customer” when communicating back to RackN product managers and engineers. You will be an integral part of the engineering team and offer thoughtful requests on features and products that reflect your knowledge from working with our customers.
To succeed, you must be comfortable engaging DevOps Architects and SRE leaders at the technical and business levels. You will use your skills and knowledge to be considered a trusted advisor by these stakeholders.
Our Sales Approach
RackN is a product-driven sale. Our lead generation is focused on technical leaders and self-trial. In this type of technical sales approach, the Sales Engineer will be a key point of contact and help prospects learn about our products, map automation to their business needs and build proof of concept integrations.
Skills and Background
Technical Skills
- You will have knowledge/experience with datacenter automation products that combine elements of provisioning, configuration and IaC (infrastructure as code) automation.
- You will have hands-on experience in infrastructure operations environments so that you can work confidently with infrastructure operators. Comfort with Linux is required.
- Ideally, you will be familiar with some platforms like Ansible, Terraform, Puppet/Chef, VMware, Cloud, Kubernetes.
Business Skills
- You will have enterprise technical-sales experience.
- You will be comfortable presenting to individuals and groups, to inform, educate and train them on RackN products and solutions.
- You will collaborate closely with an excellent team of engineers who are currently highly engaged in the customer experience.
Experience
- You have 1-3 years of experience in a pre-sales environment supporting the kind of technology referenced above as an individual contributor and are excited about the prospect of growing into a leadership role as RackN grows.
Travel Expectations
This is a US remote work position (must be US based and authorized).
Since customer engagement is remote and distributed, minimal travel is expected in this position (current expectations are about 3 days per month).
As a UX Engineering you will be accountable important areas of our engineering process:
- Writing and testing code for the RackN user interface in React and JavaScript.
- Working collaboratively with other engineers in other disciplines to create a powerful and intuitive user experience.
- Use and understand infrastructure operations with Digital Rebar to translate UX operations into production functionality.
- Communicate and work against priorities established by the engineering organization.
To succeed, you must be comfortable working independently to set priorities and complete tasks. You will also be expected to interact with customers to help diagnose problems and improve functionality.

- You must have hands-on experience with React and other JavaScript programming frameworks.
- You must have hands-on experience with collaborative development processes including using Git and CI/CD pipelines.
- You should be comfortable with infrastructure operations in cloud or on-premises.
- Ideally, you will be familiar with some platforms like Ansible, Terraform, Puppet/Chef, VMware, Cloud, Kubernetes.
Business Skills

Experience

Travel Expectations
This is a US remote work position (must be US based and authorized).
Since customer engagement is remote and distributed, minimal travel is expected in this position (current expectations are about 3 days per month).
The service engineer’s job is to shorten the time to production and then smooth the production use of Digital Rebar for an Enterprise customer so they’re all about making it possible for our customers to grow and expand in the accounts as quickly as possible. Ultimately, you will transition from RackN to Customer’s Internal support.
What you Will do
As a Services Engineer, you will be accountable for customer success in the following ways:
- Working directly with prospects and customers to define and execute against Statements of Work.
- Understand and document customer infrastructure systems and automation.
- Working directly with customers to deliver technical solutions based on Digital Rebar in customer environments.
- Help train and support RackN customers so they can become self-sufficient.
- Support escalations from customer production and pre-production environments.
- Engage with RackN engineering teams to create and enhance Digital Rebar.
To succeed, you must be comfortable working independently to set priorities and complete tasks. You will also be expected to interact with customers to help diagnose problems and improve functionality.

- Ideally, you will be familiar with authoring automation with tools like Ansible, Terraform, Puppet/Chef, VMware, Cloud, Kubernetes.
Business Skills
- You must have experience working against an SOW and documenting delivery milestones.
- You should have experience performing contract services as a 3rd party.
- You should have experience with enterprise scale operation and requirements.
- You should have experience with supporting production environments.
